Submission Guidelines

Stoneboat seeks original, unpublished writing and art. When submitting your work, please include:

• 3-5 poems in a single document, fiction or nonfiction up to 5,000 words, 3-5 pieces of visual artwork (b&w or color), or graphic literature up to 5 pages

• a cover letter

• a short bio (can be included in the cover letter)

Please submit only once per reading period. In addition, we will not publish a writer or artist in two consecutive issues. We do accept simultaneous submissions, but please let us know as soon as possible if your work has been accepted elsewhere. You can use Submittable to withdraw an entire or partial submission, or you can email us to withdraw a single poem/piece from a submission.

Stoneboat acquires First North American Serial Rights for the pieces we publish; all rights revert back to the author after publication.

Submissions are closed and will open again in summer 2024.
