CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS -- LAKELAND SESQUICENTENNIAL ISSUE
As of September 15, Stoneboat is accepting submissions for a special issue celebrating Lakeland College's sesquicentennial. If you are a member of the Lakeland family, please click here to learn more about this exciting project, made possible by a Lakeland College Interdisciplinary Research Grant. Stoneboat is currently closed to submissions for the regular issue, but we will begin reading again in the spring.
STONEBOAT NEWS
Stoneboat has a tradition of celebrating the release of each new issue with a reading. Our fall issue release reading was held at Paradigm Coffee and Music in Sheboygan on November 5th. Contributors Maryann Hurtt of Elkhart Lake, Richard Merleman of Madison, and Ralph Murre of Baileys Harbor all came to Sheboygan to read their work. Since many of our contributors are from far-flung places like Mississippi and New York and North Carolina, the reading also featured a number of "ghost readers," local Stoneboat supporters who read poetry and prose from the Fall issue. We are grateful to everyone who participated, whether by reading their own work or someone else's work or simply by showing up to listen to some great work.
We also had the pleasure of meeting two of our contributors, essayist Joyce Dyer and poet Hailey Leithauser, at the annual Great Lakes Writers Festival on November 3rd and 4th. Joyce and Hailey read their work at afternoon and evening public readings, and they also conducted a number of workshops for high school students, Lakeland College students, and the general public. We feel privileged to have met these women and published their work.
If you haven't picked up a copy of the Fall issue yet, it's available for purchase through our website. You can also get a copy at Avol's Books in Madison, Woodland Pattern in Milwaukee, Paradigm Coffee & Music in Sheboygan, and Book Heads in Plymouth.
Lastly, we're already hard at work on not one but two upcoming issues. The spring issue is due to be released in April, and the special edition will be out in June...
